With the holidays just around the corner, some of you may be struggling to find a gift for that someone who's simply impossible to buy for. But doesn't a random bottle of wine seem somewhat impersonal at times? Here's an idea. Have you considered buying wine from a Pennsylvania winery instead? That would make the gift just a bit more meaningful, especially if the recipient is not from this area.
For those of you in Harrisburg though, there isn't exactly a ton of wineries right near the city, as they tend to be out in the country. Your closest options are probably West Hanover Winery in West Hanover Township, just past Colonial Park, and Cullari Vineyards and Winery out in Hershey. But here some wineries with boutiques that cater to Harrisburg shoppers:
- Allegro Vineyards of Brogue, Pa., has a shop at the West Shore Farmer's Market at 900 Market St. in Lemoyne, which is open on Fridays and Saturdays. As reported by the Central Penn Business Journal, Allegro also opened a shop at the Giant Food Stores in Enola, 310 E. Penn Dr., East Pennsboro Township.
- Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars of New Tripoli, Pa., just opened up a shop in the Giant Food Stores location in Hummelstown, 277 Hershey Rd., South Hanover Township, according to the Central Penn Business Journal.
- Hunters Valley Winery of Liverpool, Pa., offers a boutique in Linglestown, right near the square at 5939 Linglestown Rd.
- Nissley Vineyards & Winery Estate of Bainbridge, Pa., has a shop at the Colonial Park Mall for the East Shore folks and one at the Capital City Mall for the West Shore people.
